I’m Dr. Jennifer Jordan, Founder and Principal Psychologist of Eagle Therapist Collective. I’d like to share a bit of my journey here, as I’m looking forward to hearing yours too!
Growing up, I had a family member diagnosed with ADHD. I remember that they got to go to ‘special appointments’, but I was never invited to go with them. I heard stories about how fun these appointments were, the games they played, and the yummy snacks they got to eat.
I was fascinated by these stories, and wanted to know what I could do to attend special appointments myself. As I began to find answers, I realized that these meetings were designed to help kids with different struggles. In fact, with my own family member, I started noticing a difference in their ability to communicate peacefully with me and engage with their friends.
As I continued to go through school, I developed a deeper interest in psychology. That interest, coupled with my love and passion for serving others, illuminated the idea that a career in psychology was the perfect path for me.
I studied psychology at Santa Clara University and continued my education at California School of Professional Psychology, Fresno, where I chose to specifically study working with children, adolescents, parents, and families. In my early training I worked within schools, doing social skills groups, play therapy, and completing assessments and recommendations for Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
Since then, I have worked with Kaiser Permanente in the outpatient Child Psychiatry Department; Orion Academy, which is a private high school designed specifically for students with neurodevelopmental disabilities (ASD & NLD); and Cherry Gulch, a residential treatment center for middle-school boys.
In transitioning our family from California to Idaho, I have realized that working with children in therapy while raising my own family brings its own set of challenges, including re-learning how to be present at home. #strivingforbalance - am I right? To honor my own self-care and bliss in this phase of life...
I am focusing my practice on supporting:
- Adults in reducing stress, managing anxiety, and practicing self-care
- Teens as they navigate school, friends, and all the hurdles of pre-adulthood (Ages 13 and up)
- Parents in building harmonious families through dynamic communication and appropriate boundaries
- Children by utilizing psychological testing to inform school success and nourish parenting practices
- Women business owners in overcoming hurdles that prevent personal thriving at work
- Mothers in finding their bliss while balancing the needs of their families
I am grateful to be able to bring my expertise and experience to Eagle Therapist Collective, both in Idaho and California (virtually), and I’m so looking forward to meeting you!
