Hello!
My name is Carol Birdzell, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and am so excited to
be joining the Eagle Therapist Collective!
As life’s journeys often are, mine to becoming a counselor has not been a direct path.
My passion for and curiosity in psychology have been evident since I began college and took
my first psychology class. Having the opportunity to learn about mental illness in a scholarly
way fascinated me after growing up with family members who struggled with chronic illness.
At that point in my life, I did not understand what counseling was, and I remember saying, ‘I
don’t want to sit around and listen to people’s problems all day, I do not want to be a
counselor’ and more schooling carried the same amount of appeal at that time. So, I
graduated as quickly as possible, still unsure of what I wanted to be when I grew up.
A few years after graduating from college, I discovered out-of-hospital birth and
midwifery. It swept my heart away and off I went, back to school. I had an amazing career as a
Licensed Midwife, for over 10 years but as the years went by, it became apparent that I
needed to make a change. The lifestyle required to do that work, had taken its toll on me so I
began to dream of what was next.
It did not take long before I knew that counseling made sense for my professional and
personal life and the future possibilities excited me. In the years after college, counseling had
become more real to me. I learned that it was much more than simply listening to people’s
problems. I am so excited to share my unique combination of experience and knowledge in
women’s health, counseling, and psychology to my clients.
Much like Dr. Jordan, I am #strivingforbalance between being a mom and a professional. After
midwifing my way through the first half of my child’s life, I am looking forward to being more
present, involved, and rested, for the years left at home.
At Eagle Therapist Collective, I have a person-centered and holistic approach and am working
with clients who are:
- Adults
- Teens ages 13 and older
- Women struggling with postpartum anxiety and depression
- Parents in the transition into parenthood
- Women on their journey to motherhood and through menopause
I am looking forward to providing a safe space on your journey! Call me to schedule an
appointment. Online scheduling link is coming soon!
Best,
